Something I looked forward to when I’m a parent:
When my child asks me a question like, “Daddy, why is the sky blue?” I’ll respond by saying, “I’m not sure. Why don’t you look it up?”

Hopefully their response is something like, “But Daddy, you’re suppose to know everything!” To which I will reply, “Tell ya what, I’ll tell you why I think it’s blue, and then we’ll look it up together. If I’m right, you owe me a cookie. If I’m wrong, I owe you a cookie.”

Thus, the simple act of being curious will turn into a fun game where my child not only learns to always ask questions, but also follow up by doing research.


What I do NOT look forward to when I’m a parent:
Sitting through 3 hours of annoying kids singing crappy Christmas carols just to hear my own kid for 3 minutes.
